Ransom, Fletcher C.

Fletcher Charles Ransom was born in Alamo, Michigan in 1870.  He was educated in the Alamo and Kalamazoo Public School, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Academy of Fine Arts, New York City.  His first work as an illustrator was on the Youth's Companion and later for Collier's during the Spanish-American War.  The painted the first 14 pictures for the calendar series depicting the History of the Illinois and Midland Railroad for Abraham Lincoln's Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois.  His work can be seen in the following museums:
